H-D Motorcycle History

In the Antique Motorcycle magazine, a scholar misinterpreted information that he believes is related to the 1903 origin year of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. The source itself, a never-before-seen 1908 Bulletin for Harley-Davidson dealers, is credible; however, the speculation derived from it is not. The Bulletin states that there was at least one unmarketed prototype motorcycle in 1903. The author of the magazine piece speculates that this would mean that only one motorcycle was produced in 1903 and that it was not brought to market. The author further guesses that post-1903 was when Harley-Davidson Motor Company really began its production for general sales. Nothing could be further from the established fact, which has been researched and proven by the Harley-Davidson Archives' staff. Harley-Davidson U.S. Military History

Harley-Davidson-WLA-Model In 1916, the United States was embroiled in a conflict with Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa. A series of skirmishes left U.S. Army troops, under the leadership of General "Black Jack" Pershing, chasing Villa and his men along the U.S.-Mexican border. Among their many means of transportation were Harley-Davidson motorcycles with machine guns mounted in the sidecars. The War Department soon ordered a dozen motorcycles directly from Harley-Davidson, and a decades-long partnership began.

Victory to auction motorcycles for US Armed Forces

Victory Motorcycles recently announced that it will auction two motorcycles to benefit families and soldiers impacted by the Fort Hood tragedy. A custom Victory Kingpin 8-Ball and a Victory Hammer S were designed in honor of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and donated in response to the tragic events of a month ago.
